Kisumu

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Friday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 360 each week. Donations have dropped by about 38% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kisumu market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $500 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $250 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $80 • Baby formula and diapers: $80 • Refrigeration and electricity: $90 If you're reading this, thank you.

Updates from Mwanaisha

Good news. Because of your gifts ($143 in total) I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
We're at 23% thanks to 5 of you. the plan for refrigeration and electricity is now scheduled. More news soon.
