The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in El Paso is running low just as demand rises; $2,050 will stock it for 12 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Friday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 350 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 34% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the El Paso market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $850
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $560
• Baby formula and diapers: $310
• Refrigeration and electricity: $330

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Cora.
Sure. The biggest one is rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale), $850. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. I'll keep the page updated.
