Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 14 families, and now we feed 335 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 42% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Likoni market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $380
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $115
• Baby formula and diapers: $105
• Refrigeration and electricity: $50
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
