The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Mombasa is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Thursday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 17 families, and now we feed 333 each week. Donations have dropped by about 30% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mombasa market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $500 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $175 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $210 • Baby formula and diapers: $75 • Refrigeration and electricity: $40 If you're reading this, thank you. - Brian
