Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 271 each week. Donations have dropped by about 42% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Arlington market and keep every receipt. Each $35 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $1,900 goes: • Baby formula and diapers: $270 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,300 • Refrigeration and electricity: $330 Thank you for reading my story. - Emily

  • Stay strong. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 7 year old who wants to send good wishes too.

    • Praying for you, Emily. Hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Quezon City.

      • You're not alone. This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Albany.

        • Keep going. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless

          • good luck, Emily. Looking forward to the next update. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.
