The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Auckland is running low just as demand rises; $2,400 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Sunday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 271 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 59% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Auckland market and keep every receipt.
Each $40 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $840
• Baby formula and diapers: $330
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,230
