Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Thursday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 19 families, and now we feed 262 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 35% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Giza market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $350 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $140
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165
• Baby formula and diapers: $30
• Refrigeration and electricity: $15
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Hang in there. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Mapo.
