Feed 259 families each week at Open Hands Pantry in Mekelle
The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Mekelle is running low just as demand rises; $200 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Saturday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 259 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mekelle market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $200 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $45
• Baby formula and diapers: $65
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $90
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
