Feed 220 families each week at Bread & Beans Kitchen in Duque de Caxias
The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Duque de Caxias is running low just as demand rises; $650 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Friday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 220 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 50% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Duque de Caxias market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $650 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $210
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $210
• Baby formula and diapers: $230
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Sending love, Rodrigo. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Duque de Caxias.
Thinking of you and your family, Rodrigo. Your post was clear and honest. We're a small family in Pune but we're thinking of you. God bless.

So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Duque de Caxias.
