The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Bengaluru is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 7 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Thursday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 208 each week. Donations have dropped by about 45% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bengaluru market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $400 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $140 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $185 • Baby formula and diapers: $35 • Refrigeration and electricity: $40 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Ananya
