Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Wednesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 181 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 33% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Embakasi market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $320
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $220
• Baby formula and diapers: $60
• Refrigeration and electricity: $50
Every share and every dollar helps.

Wishing you the best, Naliaka. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did
