Help keep a free food pantry open for families facing hunger in Soweto.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Sunday from the back of a community center. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 180 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 30% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Soweto market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $650 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $105
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $190
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $355
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Good luck, Rachel. Looking forward to the next update. Blessings.
good luck. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Marseille so I could bring a meal.
Hang in there, Rachel. Great idea, hope you get there. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Kasarani.
