Fatima's prostate cancer treatment fund

Fatima is facing prostate cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Fatima was diagnosed with prostate cancer in August. The oncology team at the Benin City Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Fatima is 33, worked as a farmer until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Benin City Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,200 goes: • Transport to the Benin City Oncology Institute: $105 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $100 • Scans and lab work: $155 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $840 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Godwin

  • Best of luck. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Amiens donated after I showed her your page

    • Wishing you peace, Godwin. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Thika

      • shared this with my family. After 24 years in social work I know how hard it is to ask for anything. God bless

        • Hope it all works out. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. We're a small family in Nashik but we're thinking of you.

          • You're not alone, Godwin. Shared this with my family. All the best.
