Vikas, my father, passed away on 2 April after complications from pneumonia. He was 50 years old. He was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $900 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 17 April. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Vikas to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to a neighborhood youth program. Where the $900 goes: • Funeral home services and casket: $550 • Cemetery plot and burial fees: $240 • Transport of the deceased: $40 • Memorial gathering for the family: $70 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
