Maya, my grandmother, passed away on 20 March after a long fight with kidney disease. She was 66 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $4,850 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 4 April. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Maya to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to a local food bank. Where the $4,850 goes: • Funeral home services and casket: $2,250 • Cemetery plot and burial fees: $1,700 • Transport of the deceased: $410 • Memorial gathering for the family: $490 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
