6th of October City
Farah was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in March. The surgeon at 6th of October City Regional Medical Center recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,550, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,100 short. my mother has been in and out of 6th of October City Regional Medical Center since March. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,550 is more than we can find. While we wait, Farah struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Farah won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,100 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $100 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $420 • Physiotherapy sessions: $120 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $460 If you're reading this, thank you. - Sawsan
