Eva was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in August. The surgeon at Victoria Community Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,150 short.
my wife has been in and out of Victoria Community Hospital since August. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Eva struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Eva won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
