The wildfire hit Millbrook village on 1 August. My home was one of 44 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $5,550 goes: • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,400 • Clean water and purification supplies: $980 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,900 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,270 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • Good luck, Sophie. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.

    • So sorry you're going through this, Sophie. Shared this with my family. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
