Erosion collapse in Badagry: help the Marketplace neighborhood rebuild
Neighbors in the Marketplace neighborhood are rebuilding after the erosion collapse; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇳🇬 Badagry, Lagos, Nigeria1,490 views
The erosion collapse hit the Marketplace neighborhood on 31 August. My home was one of 48 damaged, and 13 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $570
• Clean water and purification supplies: $115
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $160
• Food parcels for displaced families: $290
• Tools and labor for repairs: $165
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

keep going, Yewande. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 26 people at work.
Thinking of you. More neighborhoods should do this. Please keep us posted.
