Erosion collapse in Awka: help the Millbrook settlement rebuild
After the erosion collapse, families in the Millbrook settlement need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇳🇬 Nigeria582 views
The erosion collapse hit the Millbrook settlement on 17 March. My home was one of 55 damaged, and 8 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $550 goes:
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $75
• Tools and labor for repairs: $270
• Food parcels for displaced families: $205
If you're reading this, thank you.

Good luck. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I have a 9 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
Keep going, Chukwuemeka. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Sending strength, Chukwuemeka. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Love from Dwarka.
Hope it all works out, Chukwuemeka. I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Mumbai.
Sending good thoughts, Chukwuemeka. Shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Tokyo
