I live with a spinal cord injury. My occupational therapist at Accra General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $700. My current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $700 goes: • stair-climbing aid: $570 • Fitting and training sessions: $60 • Delivery and set-up: $25 • First-year servicing plan: $45 Thanks for reading all this. - Eric

  • Take care, Eric. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Paarl.
