Emergency vet bill for Pepper in Soweto
Pepper, Lesego's tabby kitten, needs urgent treatment for kidney failure costing $700.

Pepper is my tabby kitten of three years. On 22 July we rushed to Soweto Veterinary Centre with kidney failure. The vet recommends a hospital stay and surgery, and the estimate came to $700.
They have stabilized Pepper, but the treatment can't wait beyond September.
Pepper is more than a pet - Pepper is a retired therapy animal who has comforted dozens of patients. I have already put $50 toward the bills and asked for a payment plan.
Whatever I can't raise, I'll repay to anyone who needs it back.
If more is raised than needed, the surplus goes to Soweto Veterinary Centre's charity fund for other animals.
Where the $700 goes:
• Medication and follow-up visits: $70
• Emergency surgery: $590
• Diagnostics (X-ray, bloodwork): $40
If you're reading this, thank you.
Updates from Lesego
Quick update: $127 raised so far (18%). I made the first payment toward diagnostics. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
We're at 9% thanks to 2 of you. I met with the vet clinic and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.
