Tigist was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in August. The surgeon at Gondar General Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,450, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,000 short.
my mother has been in and out of Gondar General Hospital since August. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,450 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Tigist struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Tigist won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
