Emergency hernia repair for Liam: covering what insurance won't

After a cleft palate needing repair, Liam was cleared for emergency hernia repair, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Liam was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in March. The surgeon at London University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $6,150 short. my son has been in and out of London University Hospital since March. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,250 is more than we can find. While we wait, Liam struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Liam won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $6,150 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $280 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $2,200 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,800 • Post-operative medication: $240 • Physiotherapy sessions: $630 With deep gratitude, Angel
