Emergency hernia repair for Harsh: covering what insurance won't
After a benign brain tumor, Harsh was cleared for emergency hernia repair, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Harsh was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in May. The surgeon at Manukau University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $7,000 short.
my father has been in and out of Manukau University Hospital since May. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Harsh struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Harsh won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $7,000 goes:
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $2,650
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,200
• Physiotherapy sessions: $670
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $310
• Post-operative medication: $170
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless
Take care. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Gatineau!
So sorry you're going through this, Deepak. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Manukau.
wishing you the best, Deepak. Hope the doctors have good news. We're a small family in Dnipro but we're thinking of you. Love from Dnipro!
Rooting for you. Wishing Harsh a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I have a 15 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Manukau.
Praying for you, Deepak. Wishing Harsh a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too!
