Emeka can't leave home - help build a ramp

Emeka uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

Emeka has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Emeka can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Emeka's family will cook lunch for the team. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

    • sending love. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 32 people at work. All the best.

      • Keep going, Olumide. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.

        • keep going. Hope this works out for you. After 26 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings
