Depok
Elsa was diagnosed with cervical cancer in July. The oncology team at Depok Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Elsa is 43, worked as a hairdresser until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Depok Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,000 goes: • Scans and lab work: $170 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $650 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $95 • Transport to Depok Cancer Centre: $85 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Bambang

Rooting for you, Bambang. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Put this on a community board in Iași this morning. Take care.

    • Wishing Elsa a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Wish I lived closer to Nairobi so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
