Ella was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in December. The surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $3,300 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Saint Joseph Hospital since December. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Ella struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Ella won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
