Ella was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at Derry General Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $12,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $8,500 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Derry General Hospital since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $12,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Ella struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Ella won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
