Elijah needs a braille note-taker that the health system won't fund; the cost is $7,200.

Elijah lives with multiple sclerosis. The occupational therapist at Auckland General Hospital has assessed him and recommended a braille note-taker. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $7,200.
His current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment Elijah could speak with the people around him. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $7,200 goes:
• braille note-taker: $6,500
• Fitting and training sessions: $230
• Delivery and set-up: $160
• First-year servicing plan: $310
