Elias is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an electrical engineering diploma at Mississauga University, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,800. The registrar has said Elias can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Elias has a 3.9 average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Elias would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Elias isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $3,800 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,150 • Final term tuition: $1,350 • Textbooks and materials: $300 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Howard
