Eliane's final semester of an accounting degree in Rio de Janeiro
A first-generation student, Eliane needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of an accounting degree.
🇧🇷 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil1,252 views
Eliane is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an accounting degree at Rio de Janeiro State College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,050.
The registrar has said Eliane can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Eliane has a first-class average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Eliane would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Eliane isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Rio de Janeiro State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Final term tuition: $930
• Textbooks and materials: $50
• Exam and lab fees: $70

Stay strong, Sônia. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My husband and I read this together. Blessings.
You're not alone, Sônia. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in São Paulo donated after I showed her your page.
Thinking of you and your family, Sônia. Hope you get there. All the best
