Clean streams for Bornova: restoring the Freedom canal
Help us clean and replant the Freedom canal before the October planting window closes.
🇹🇷 Bornova, İzmir, Türkiye1,153 views
The Freedom canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 93 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 176 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $220
• Tools and protective gear: $120
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
• Signage and educational materials: $45
I hope life is good to you.

Sending love, Deniz. Hope you get there. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless.
Hope this works out for you. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.
Hope things get better soon, Deniz. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Bornova.
