The electricity account is 3 months behind. I received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on February unless I pay $250. I have never been late before losing my job in December. I called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $25 first, which I don't have. I live with an elderly mother, and going through the rainy season without electricity isn't safe. We can't cook, keep medicine cold or heat the home. I'm working on getting back on my feet, and will pay forward whatever help I can once I'm steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $250 goes: • Heating arrears: $125 • Reconnection and late fees: $30 • Down payment on a payment plan: $95 Thanks for being kind about this. - Devi
