The electricity account is 3 months behind. I received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on January unless I pay $750. I have never been late before my partner leaving the household. I called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $150 first, which I don't have. I live with a newborn, and going through winter without electricity isn't safe. We can't cook, keep medicine cold or heat the home. I'm working on getting back on my feet, and will pay forward whatever help I can once I'm steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $750 goes: • Electricity arrears: $480 • Reconnection and late fees: $125 • Down payment on a payment plan: $145 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
