Electricity shut-off notice: help Abena pay $100

Abena is behind on electricity bills after losing my job in July and needs $100 to avoid a shut-off.

The electricity account is 3 months behind. I received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on September unless I pay $100. I have never been late before losing my job in July. I called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $20 first, which I don't have. I live with two young children, and going through the cold months without electricity isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. I'm working on getting back on my feet, and will pay forward whatever help I can once I'm steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $100 goes: • Gas arrears: $45 • Reconnection and late fees: $15 • Down payment on a payment plan: $40 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Sending good thoughts, Abena. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from London!

    • Wishing you the best, Abena. Shared this with my family. Greetings from Kyiv.
