Edson's acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment fund
Edson is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In July I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at the Belo Horizonte Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 52, I worked as a nurse until July, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Belo Horizonte Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $780
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,450
• Scans and lab work: $270
Thanks for reading all this.

Keep going. Hope the doctors have good news. Greetings from Cairo.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Edson
Sure. The biggest one is household costs while unable to work, $780. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. I'll keep the page updated.
You're not alone, Edson. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest.
Sending strength, Edson. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Greetings from Johannesburg.
looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Belo Horizonte
Hope things get better soon, Edson. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 21 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings
