Earthquake in Piraeus: help the Marketplace settlement rebuild
Neighbors in the Marketplace settlement are rebuilding after the earthquake; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇬🇷 Piraeus, Attica, Greece3,433 views
The earthquake hit the Marketplace settlement on 30 July. My home was one of 77 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,000
• Clean water and purification supplies: $370
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $270
• Food parcels for displaced families: $530
• Tools and labor for repairs: $430

Hang in there. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care.
hang in there, Paraskevi. Hope this works out for you. Sent it to 31 people at work. Love from Medellín.
you're not alone. Hope this works out for you. Greetings from London.
More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Embakasi.
Best of luck, Paraskevi. This could happen to any of us. It's not much but it's yours. Take care!
sending love. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best.
