Earthquake in Jakarta: help the Riverside settlement rebuild

Neighbors in the Riverside settlement are rebuilding after the earthquake; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The earthquake hit the Riverside settlement on 8 October. My home was one of 25 damaged, and 13 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $1,100 goes: • Tools and labor for repairs: $340 • Roofing sheets and timber: $520 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $125 • Food parcels for displaced families: $115 Thank you for reading my story. - Zahra

Hope you get there. After 9 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless

Wishing you peace, Zahra. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust.

sending strength. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
