Earthquake in Bergamo: help the Eastgate district rebuild

After the earthquake, families in the Eastgate district need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

Bergamo
The earthquake hit the Eastgate district on 23 June. My home was one of 79 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $4,900 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $1,550 • Clean water and purification supplies: $820 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $820 • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,050 • Tools and labor for repairs: $660 Glad we found this place.

Thanks for sharing this, Stefania. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best

Hope it all works out, Stefania. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Bergamo.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Stefania

          • Stefania Silvia GattiOwnerAnswer

Roofing sheets and timber is $1,550 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Appreciate you taking the time.
