Dorcas lives with a spinal cord injury. The occupational therapist at the Machakos Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a braille note-taker. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $500. Her current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 8 weeks. With the right equipment Dorcas could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $500 goes: • braille note-taker: $360 • Fitting and training sessions: $35 • Delivery and set-up: $15 • First-year servicing plan: $90 I hope life is good to you. - Mercy

Updates from Mercy

  1. Update from Machakos: the plan for delivery and set-up is now scheduled. We're at 9% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($20 in total) the plan for braille note-taker is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
