Dignity in old age: caring for Zara

I'm caring for my mother, who's 75. After a diagnosis of dementia Zara can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Zara desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Zara worked all of her life as a factory worker, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $450 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $30
• Medication and prescriptions: $85
• Part-time carer (eight months): $335
