Dignity in old age: caring for Wesley
Wesley, 74, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $5,400 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 74. After a diagnosis of dementia Wesley can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Wesley desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Wesley worked all of his life as a schoolteacher, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $5,400 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $3,700
• Medication and prescriptions: $670
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $430
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $600
Thanks for reading all this.
