Dignity in old age: caring for Waraporn
Help Waraporn stay in her own home with eight months of part-time care.
🇹🇭 Thailand1,178 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 77. After worsening Parkinson's disease Waraporn can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Waraporn desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Waraporn worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $960
• Medication and prescriptions: $155
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $85
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $100
Thank you for reading my story.
