Dignity in old age: caring for Uma
Uma, 84, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $700 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 84. After worsening Parkinson's disease Uma can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Uma desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Uma worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $700 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $570
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $45
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $85
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Sending love, Sudhakar. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in nursing myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
