Dignity in old age: caring for Thabo
Help Thabo stay in his own home with three months of part-time care.
🇿🇦 South Africa1,416 views
I'm caring for my father, who's 77. After worsening Parkinson's disease Thabo can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Thabo desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Thabo worked all of his life as a bus driver, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $350 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $70
• Medication and prescriptions: $200
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $80
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

I hope things turn around soon. Sent it to 39 people at work.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Hialeah.
Praying for you, Gerhard. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
