Dignity in old age: caring for Serenity
Serenity, 91, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $3,450 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 91. After worsening Parkinson's disease Serenity can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Serenity desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Serenity worked all of her life as a shopkeeper, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,450 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $2,200
• Medication and prescriptions: $450
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $290
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $510
Thank you so much.

hope it all works out, Zoe. Hope you get there. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Cairo.
