Dignity in old age: caring for Ryan
Ryan, 78, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $650 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 78. After a stroke last April Ryan can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Ryan desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Ryan worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $650 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $430
• Medication and prescriptions: $100
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $35
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $85

Thinking of you. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I'll check back for the next update. All the best
Wishing Ryan a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Don't give up. God bless.
