Dignity in old age: caring for Ronke
Ronke, 88, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $450 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 88. After a heart attack Ronke can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Ronke desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Ronke worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $450 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $65
• Part-time carer (four months): $340
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $45
Glad we found this place.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ronke
Hospital bed and mattress rental is $65 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
Thinking of you and your family. Looking forward to the next update. I hope September is when things finally get easier. God bless.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Benin City but we're thinking of you. All the best.
keep going. I hope things turn around soon. Put this on a community board in Grand Rapids this morning. Thinking of Abuja.
