Dignity in old age: caring for Rina
Rina, 80, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $750 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 80. After a stroke last August Rina can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Rina desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Rina worked all of her life as a schoolteacher, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $750 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $60
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $50
• Part-time carer (six months): $640
